A treat in store....

My Uncle has been staying in Harrogate and he asked if we (my mam, sister Julie and me) would like to go to meet him and have lunch at Betty's, his treat. Well we didn't need asking twice, and before you could say Jack Robinson we dressed in our finery, jumped in the car and headed off to Harrogate.

We were served tea by a charming young man while we poured over the menu, I had pancakes with chestnut mushrooms, white wine sauce and garlic and it was delicious and for afters I had a chocolate truffle slice from the sweet trolley....ah bliss.

We were then treated to a box of choccies , I chose the rose and violet creams,  my favourites,  a Betty's cloth bag

and  some of their caramelised onion chutney to go on  welsh rarebit  for our supper.

We passed some lovely buildings on the way back to the hotel, and the hanging baskets were still flowering, I shall have to put Harrogate on my list of places to visit this Autumn, but all too soon it was time for us to leave.

A good day was had by all, thank you so much,

love Lucey xxx

Hi Lucey,

Your outing sounds absolutely fabulous! I so miss the food over there (across the pond), but I've not heard of "Betty's" before. Has it been around for a long time? The last time I was in Harrogate was 1996, so I guess I don't remember much. Anyway, thanks for sharing your lunch, and that box for the rose creams looks yummy all by it'self.

Hugs,
Meri

Hi, Have just found your lovely blog. I love Betty's especially the one in Harrogate. Hubby and I went to lunch at the one in York last June. It was lovely and we came home with a treat or two. But why not! Glad you had a lovely day.
