Only two doors to go...

With only two more doors to open,

we've been very busy  in the lucey household,

little hands have been making sugar mice to hide in the tree

we got the moulds from Lakeland and I melted some fondant icing and added a little pink food colouring, it kept Dylan happy for an hour

little sister made some cookies and iced them all by herself

they're a combination of postman pat and the snowman!!

And grandma was happily snapping away with the camera,

taking a few pictures

I love these cards with houses and shops on them

you can just imagine little noses pressed against the window panes.

We're off to do our "big shop" tonight  for all the gorgeous goodies we simply must have, then eat and drink, then moan at,  because we have a massive spare tyre that only appears after christmas!!

Bye for now,

Snow angels...

Oh I've had a lovely day today it started  when we woke up this morning  everywhere was like a  winter wonderland once again with all the snow

and as we had a fun filled day ahead of us Mr Lucey made us all a hearty breakfast.

We wraped up warmly and set off for  the garden centre which is about 20 mins away to visit the resident reindeer

they soon jumped up when they heard the rattle of food

For £1 you got a handfull of pellets and if you put your hand out "donna and blitzen" come over for a feed

after that we went to play snow angels in the park

and finally with rosey cheeks  it was time to go home for a large slice of chocolate log and a steaming mug of hot chocolate!

Bye for now

Ice sculptures...

Mistletoe....

cakes....

robins....

pretty windows....

and ice sculptures!!

We got the train to York on saturday and as it was Mr Luceys birthday we only went in the "man" shops,
had lunch and browsed, arm in arm, round swinegate for the festival of angels.

Just look at these ice carvings,

we knew they were real as the ice was  dripping,

he's a handsome chap

and look at this ice bar, I was given a chocolate cup and my baileys was poured down the slide and into my chocolate cup....delicious.

Here's one of the chaps chiseling a sculpture its a dolphin with waves, how good is that, clever man.

As well as baileys we had roasted chestnuts, mince pies and mulled wine hick, hick, and a good time was had by all!!

Do you want a look?

I managed to get both trees up this week and now everywhere is finished do you want a little look in the upstairs lounge? Come on follow me up the stairs.

The door from the landing is to the left of the picture, we put the stove from the summerhouse in here which makes the room feel nice and cosy, we sit up here on Friday and Saturday nights with a nice bottle of something red!!

These gorgeous reindeers are from good old ikea I got  enough to decorate the tree and the swag up the stairs I think they were only £1.99 for 4.

We got a bed settee for when Dylan sleeps over he loves it as he thinks its his own little pad!!

It will be lovely in the summer when we can throw the doors open, Mr Lucey tied a tree to the railings and I added a swag with lights.

Dylan bought Alexa the  doll, (with reindeer skin clothes of course,) when we were in Lapland a couple of years ago when she saw it on the chair she said "thats my doll danma" (grandma) and took it home, so now I can curl up in this cosy corner with a book on  a snowy afternoon nibbling mince pies and drinking hot chocolate.

Mam bought these Emma Bridgewater robin mugs filled with candles for herself but she doesn't like to light them as they get on her chest so she's given them to me to use, what a lovely mam I've got.

This is my white tree in the downstairs lounge filled with all my treasured ornaments collected over the years, I remember the first year we were married come 30th November we couldn't wait any longer and went out and bought the biggest real tree we could find and filled it with baubles and lights from woolworths. Come xmas day the tree was well past its best with needles everywhere and we were so fed up of it it come down on boxing day!!

The decorations are up...

I've spent the last few days doing what I do best, decorating the house for christmas!! I got the pattern for the paper trees from the internet,

and this "forest" is from ikea.

We won the Jamie Oliver candle  in a raffle and it smells of oranges and spices, and I couldn't use an ordinary box of matches when these are so pretty could I?

The  mistletoe is  from aspen and brown and I threaded some pretty ribbon through the top and pegged a few small cards to it.

reindeer stables this way!

"dasher and dancer and prancer and vixen"

"comet and cupid and donner and blitzen"

I have a love of reindeer and at the last count there was 36, I have furry ones, glass, wooden, tin, night lights cardboard and painted stones, I just can't resist them.

and finally the tree with its branches full of treasured baubles that I've collected over the years.

Bye for now

Lets start at the very begining...

Yesterday was Lilly's 3 rd birthday,

let's start at the very begining!!

I met my friend Shirly when we  worked together a few years ago and one day as I served an old school friend I said to Shirly "that girl was in my class at school "and she replied "she was in my class at school"  it turned out Shirly was 10 weeks older than me and we'd been in the same class as each other.

A few weeks later I told Shirly it was Rachel's birthday and she said it was also her daughter Emma's birthday (shown in the photo above with Lilly) Both girls were born on the same day in the same hospital but at different times!!

Then one day I said to Shirly "Rachel is pregnant and the baby is due in November" and the very next week Shirly announced Emma was pregnant with Lilly and the girls were born just 3 weeks apart, how's that for coincidences???

Needless to say we're all firm friends.

The snow here is "deep and crisp and even" and there's more forecast for tomorrow, we were going to Beamish museum today but instead we hung the holly wreath on the door and the swag up the stairs  then went for a long snowy walk with the dogs, they love the snow despite it being quite deep.

Right X factor is on so I'm off to watch who gets elliminated from this weeks show,

Bye Lucey xx
