Granny Chic Skirt

Hello me dears,

what do you think of this 'ere skirt then??

Am I right in thinking gorgeous?

On Sunday I was browsing  t'internet when I come across "Tales of Ted and Agnes, frock shop open" so I clicked the button where there were the most gorgeous skirts to choose from all hand made by the lovely Rachelle.

When the parcel  arrived this morning there were no pictures of me carefully opening it, I just tore the paper off as quickly as I could eager to see what was inside, and I wasn't disappointed.

The pattern is called Rose and Peony and a long time ago I had the bedding and my sister had the wallpaper and curtains and now I'm wearing the skirt....upcycling at it's very best.

It has a lovely pink lace peeping out of the bottom and it fits like a glove,

how hard is it to try and take a picture of yourself in the mirror, this was the best of the bunch!

Everything went well  at the hospital yesterday just waiting for the swelling to go down and I can get back to normal again.

Hospital.....At Last.

Many, many moons ago ( last July to be precise) when I was on holiday, I injured my Achilles tendon.

You wouldn't think such a tiny slip on a boat would cause so much pain.

To cut a long story short, I've been prescribed painkillers, rested it, had some physio,  had my leg  taped up, scanned twice  and worn a  "moonboot" for 3 months and tomorrow after 7 long months  the specialist is going to give me a scan while flushing out the "sack" round the tendon with a needle.....nice!!

He tells me this should cure it I do hope so because 7 months is a long time to be in such a lot of pain, being the Achilles tendon it also means I can't walk very far, stand for long, get up and down stairs very easily, go out in the rain/snow etc, etc so it will be nice just to get back to normal.

First on my list is to ride my lovely "poppins"

and I'm hoping we don't get any more snow like this mornings little covering, it didn't last very long but I'm sure I've just seen a snowflake whirl past the window!!

Ok moan over, just wish it was this time tomorrow!

The Vintage Jacket

Brrrr, just been out with the dogs and it's certainly a chilly one tonight or is that just because I've been sat round  the fire sewing all afternoon!!

Remember the tweed jacket I got from the market?

well after stitching on a rainbow of buttons,

a length of vintage lace,

and a little belt at the back,

it now looks like this,

 and the front.

I think I might sew a patch or two on the front as it still looks a bit "brown" although there's lovely red, green and blue threads running through it, it looks like it's been quite an expensive jacket in it's day.

I picked up the English Home mag in the supermarket there's some lovely homes in there and a free packet of Love in a Mist seeds, inside there's a leaflet saying there's an offer on, 5 issues for £5, yes please!!

I've also decided to renovate an old dolls house just waiting for the  wallpaper to arrive,
so that's my weekend sorted, hope you enjoy yours, what ever you're doing.

Hello,

I was going to remove the "falling snow" from my blog but we've had another light snow fall in the night so I shall leave it there for a while!

On Saturday we had a ride up to Durham as I love a rummage round the vintage stalls, you never know what you might find lurking in corners, and I don't mean spiders!!

Hanging up was a rail of ladies tweedy jackets so, in near Baltic conditions I stripped off a few layers to try them on and "bingo" one was exactly what I was looking for to "vintage up" a bit.
What do you think, nice eh??

I've got the buttons, ribbons, watches and a few other  bits ready to sew on when it gets back from the dry cleaners and the best bit of all was it only cost.....£20....so I think a bargain was had there!!

On Sunday I knit a couple of pair of "wristees, red ones for a friend and these lovely "spring time" ones  for me, I can whip them up in a couple of hours and they're so warm,  last night I started knitting the scarf to match.

Talking of last night did anyone see "Mrs Brown's Boys??
The funniest thing ever,
Monday night's just won't be the same!!

Snowman Bunting

With everywhere looking like a winter wonderland it makes me want to get the Christmas tree and fairy lights out again!!

There's always a couple of decorations that stay out after christmas  and the little white cottage that lights up is is one of them,
and this  bunting is the other.

Just right in this snowy weather, does anyone else do this or is it only me???

Mr Blackbird looks rather chilly with his feet in the snow, maybe I should knit him a warm scarf and a little bobble hat,

and I feel like bringing these snow covered hyacinths in aswell as it's sooooo cold!!

Being indoors means I've had lots of "knitting days" and at long last I've nearly finished Alexa's cardigan and I'm quite pleased with it,

I was panicking a bit but I think there's just enough wool left to finish the front band, just need to pick some pretty buttons now and she can wear it....I hope it fit's.

Flicking through the new Cath Kidston brochure I think I feel a new bag coming on...

and a dress...

and a mug or two for a nice big brew!!

Stay warm in this snowy weather,

and above all....

Cosy Cushion

We already  had a covering  of snow when it began to fall quite heavily last night, for about 3 hours big fluffy flakes of now and then that fine heavy stuff that covers everywhere in a white blanket fell from the sky.

This morning all the dads were out with the kids on sledges seeing who could make the biggest  snowman, and the dogs couldn't wait to go out.

I decided to have a lovely cosy day by the fire, finishing off  a cardigan that I started for Alexa last year, eating crumpets and drinking tea. I was just thinking how warm and cosy it was inside,  while big flakes of snow were falling outside, when I glanced across at the chair and I thought "that doesn't look like a cosy chair, it needs new cushions"!!

So I left the knitting (will I ever finish it?) and rummaged through my fabrics for something suitable to make a "cosy cushion" I found a  lovely piece  woolly blanket,  a small amount of pink velvet and I cut a small piece off an old cream blanket for the back.

Half an hour later I'd stitched the cushion together and I was pleased with it but still the chair wasn't cosy enough, I already had this little cushion

so I just turned it over and wrapped it up, parcel fashion, with some butchers twine,

then I placed them on the chair with Mrs Bunny and a big warm blanket for throwing over chilly knees,

result...I now have a very cosy chair

and footstool to match.

What did you do on this snowy day, play snowballs or keep warm in a cosy chair???

Thank you to everyone who left me birthday wishes in the last post I do appreciate all your lovely comments.

(Back of the cushion looks nice too!)

Snowy Birthday

I never get the January blues because today's my birthday,
and just to make sure I like to see it in black and white, or should that be grey and white!!

This gorgeous 3 D picture arrived in the post from  Kirsty Elson designs, all wrapped in blue tissue paper and accompanied by a lovely card,

I couldn't wait to rip the paper off!!

As we often ride our bikes along the sea front we asked Kirsty if she could put the bikes leaning against the railings.....and that's exactly what she did, the clever lady,

his.....

and hers.

Mr Lucey got me a Kindle Fire HD that I'm looking forward to reading books and blogs on it,

and spoilt me by getting me a new purse as well, I'm a very happy bunny today!!

There were lots of cards, chocolates and flowers and  bit of shopping, I've still got the "moon boot" on so we couldn't go too far, and lunch with my daughter,

and at tea time the family brought me a huge chocolate cup cake....yummy,
I can see those lb's rolling on!!

We're just about to order a Chinese takeaway with a few glasses of bubbly
so all in all a wonderful birthday,

and spoilt rotten!!
