Joining the W.I...

Hello everyone,

the nights are getting a bit colder and the days shorter we tend to think a bit differently, thick cardigans come out and shoes replace sandles, I like to get some books out to flick through

I read the "what to look out for in autumn"  book to Alexa and we collected some acorns and fir cones on our walk,

squirrel nutkin soooo loves nuts!!

As it's not quite glove weather yet I've started to knit some wrist warmers, they have a nice lace pattern that goes on the edge and the pattern said knit it all in one but as I couldn't quite get my head around the pattern I decided to knit it seperately.

Last night it was dark at 8.30 so I thought I'd best be getting some candles ready to light I got some lovely red holders in the sale but I'm keeping those for christmas time, I need to look for some silver coloured ones aswell,

and I found those CK candles left over from last year in the back of the cupboard.

I bought this lovely old "carnation" receipe book from a fair so I thought I'd give the lemon crunch deserts a go I'm putting those lovely  biscuits in instead of ginger nuts as they're so scrummy,

and I shall make myself a "brew" in mr oswald owl or the pumpkin mug great size for hot chocolate too you can get just the right amount of marshmallows on the top!!

Tonight I'm going to join the WI (if they'll have me) don't realy know much about it but I've been to a few fairs and everyone seems realy friendly, I'll let you know how I get on, I'll be wearing my new red shoes for luck!!

Before I go I must show you this

I saw these mince pies on the shelves last week now I think the beginning of september is far too early, what do you think???

See you soon,

Lucey x

I LOVE your shoes! I'd love to join the WI but there isn't a branch local enough to me. We saw that M&S have got a little Christmas section already with Christmas cake and mince pies. Never too early for me! xx

I said to my sister `I`m so ready for the W.I.` and she said `but are they ready for you`?! I`m going to go along anyway and see if they`ll let me join up! Your shoes are incredibly pretty and I love your wristwarmers too. I`ve been knitting too and needed a little something extra for one of the cowls I made then I found one of those pretty brooches you sent me and it matched perfectly! Have a good week.

I love your soes Lucey, I so very want them! Yes, I'm feeling very Autumnal now too. Getting out my red rugs and cosy blankets for the chairs. I am interested in joining the WI so will be very interested to find out more about how you get on. My granny used to take me when I was a young girl and we made pompoms a lot but I think it may have progressed since then! Bettyx

I joined the WRI (scottish WI)two years ago. I'm actually the youngest member in our branch which is funny as I'm 48 no 49 next month hehe. But they are all lovely and I've learnt loads of crafty things and I'm now even on the "committee"!!
Am very envious of your lovely red shoes, red shoes are a weakness of mine lol.
Enjoy yourself
Hugs

In Poundland the other day I was bemoaning to my daughter that they already had Halloween stock when it was 8 weeks to Halloween, she laughingly replied "Well at least they haven't got their Christmas stock in yet". Lo and behold when we got to the checkout what did we see? Yes you've guessed, the first of the Christmas stock!!
